Weather Interrupts MCL All-Star GameBy: Brandon Vickrey ![]() Whiting, Ind. – July 14, 2019 – In a season plagued by inclement weather, it seemed only fitting that the Midwest Collegiate League’s signature event would be disrupted by Mother Nature. The MCL East led the MCL West 1-0 through one inning at the league’s annual All-Star Game on Saturday night at Oil City Stadium before lightning delayed the action. The lightning continued for the remainder of the evening, causing the umpires to call off the contest. Stars from across the league participated in a scouting showcase throughout the day as scouts from professional organizations came out to observe the league’s top talent. The night was a celebration of 10 seasons of Midwest Collegiate League baseball. Stay tuned for details regarding a potential makeup date for the MCL All-Star Game. The Oilmen will be back in action on Monday at 5 p.m. against the DuPage County Hounds at the Lemont Sports Complex. Blake Toman and Brady Extin will have the call on the Oilmen Broadcasting Network, which is available via Facebook Live. |
